Sun Yat-Sen University (SYSU), a top-10 university in mainland China, was established in 1924. The School of Physics and Astronomy (SPA) of SYSU is in the Zhuhai campus. It’s research strengths include  astrophysics & astronomy, gravitational physics, quantum science & technology, AMO physics, theoretical physics, cosmology, and space science. More information about the SPA is available at  
The Laboratory of Quantum Engineering and Quantum Metrology (LabQUEM),directed by Prof. Chaohong Lee, is a part of SPA. The LabQUEM has established three groups (Quantum Atom Optics group led by Prof. Chaohong Lee, Many-Body Problems in Quantum Gases group led by Prof. Zhenhua Yu, and Low-Dimensional Quantum Materialsgroup led by Prof. Hongyi Yu) and will establish more groups in the next five years. The LabQUEM is establishing three experimental apparatuses: Rb BEC, Sr quantum gases in optical lattices, and Sr ion trap.   
At the LabQUEM, by engineering synthetic quantum systems, we aim to explore, understand and employ the mysterious quantum effects. Through focused and visionary research, we will deliver new insights into fundamental sciences and advance the development of practical technologies (in particular metrology and sensing technologies) across a range of disciplines. 
Our research core is the mysterious quantum effects in synthetic quantum systems of atoms, ions or photons. Around the research core, we will also develop realizable schemes for implementing quantum metrology and quantum simulations.  Our main research areas include: (1) Quantum Engineering & Quantum Simulation; (2) Quantum Metrology & Quantum Sensors; and (3) Many-Body Quantum Physics & Quantum Dynamics.  
The LabQUEM is opening several faculty positions (full professor, associate professor), research positions (senior fellow, research fellow) and postdoctoral positions for both Chinese and international applicants.
